The favorite event of the farm's family is The Blessing of the Sheep. The actual Blessing of the Sheep will take place at 1pm. This event is not to be missed. We will have sheep herding and bagpipes as well as the opportunity to see the lambs. Seating is limited so visitors are encouraged to bring a lawn chair if they want to sit and relax while watching. Kilts are encouraged. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Please plan time for parking so you do not miss the Blessing.
The Blessing of the Sheep is celebrated on St. George’s Day. St. George is the patron saint of shepherds. St. George is remembered, the shepherd is honored, and his sheep are blessed. The tradition originated in Greece where the flocks are roaded to the local church. At The Spicy Lamb Farm, we bring the priest to the flock. We are honored to have the Dr. Rev George Murphy bless our flock each April. Accompanying him is piper Brian McElhinney who follows the Blessing with “Amazing Grace”.
